Wigan Core Strategy Examination

I am writing to inform you of the following updates that relate to the Core Strategy Examination.

- Consultation on the schedule of modifications to the Core Strategy
- Regional Strategy for the North West
- National statistics on the projected number of households to 2021

Consultation on the schedule of modifications

Following the previous hearing sessions and submission of statements the Inspector has detailed changes that are required to make the submitted Core Strategy sound. These changes are included in the schedule of modifications document that can be found on the Core Strategy Examination website www.wigan.gov.uk/CoreStrategyExamination

If you would like to comment on the modifications, you can do so by emailing your comments to programmeofficer@wigan.gov.uk or by writing to me at the above address. The deadline for these to be received is 5pm Friday 14th June 2013.

Comments should only be made on the modifications themselves. It is therefore not necessary to repeat comments or information submitted through previous representations.  The Inspector will take account of all comments received before finalising his report to the Council. 

Regional Strategy for the North West

The order to revoke the Regional Strategy for the North West was laid in parliament on 24 April 2013. See Government announcement as follows:

National statistics on the projected number of households to 2021

The latest national statistics on the projected number of households in England and its local authority districts to 2021 were published on 9 April 2013. The main points are summarised in the link below along with the detailed report.  In the case of Wigan, detailed projections show an average annual increase in the number of households of 1,022 between 2011-2021.

Any comments on the implications of the revocation of the Regional Strategy and/or the latest household projections for the examination should be sent to programmeofficer@wigan.gov.uk or to the address above by 5pm Friday 14th June 2013.  Again the Inspector will take account of any comments before finalising his report.
